Another strong start from Rumney found them mostly in the Bedlinog half, gaining plenty of possession from scrums and lineouts. An early Joe Deacon penalty gave the home side the first score and despite being under severe forward pressure the Foxes showed their attacking abilty by making dangerous counterattacks with skillful handling when in possession. In the seventeenth minute a Rumney forward drive was deemed to have been stopped illegally and Mr Saunders awarded a penalty try which was followed shortly by a second Deacon penalty to give the home side a 13 - 0 lead. Bedlinog struck back immediately and within a ten minute period scored two spectacular tries, one each for wingers Ryan Jenkins and Ryan Jayne, centre Ben Grizeca's conversion drawing the score back to 13 - 12. In the thirty fourth minute another powerful, carefully controlled drive by the home forwards resulted in a try for second row Joe Mills and the half ended with Rumney having the better of the forward exchanges and Bedlinog counterattacking with strong running and neat handling.

The opening period of the second half saw more exciting and intense play but an injury to Mr Saunders made it impossible for him to continue and a very good game came to an early end after fifty minutes. The match will be replayed at an agreed date in the future.

Matt Silva, Coach Rumney 1st XV : "I was disappointed to see the game end early and it is a tough call on Bedlinog as they have to come to Cardiff again in midweek or on a Friday night. We had a great start in the first twenty minutes, the set piece was very effective and we probably spent thirty five minutes of the first half in the Bedlinog half of the field, which is something we can build on. Bedlinog were very resilient, they took the two chances we presented them with well and will cause problems for a lot of other teams in this division. The number of missed tackles and the penalty count has to come down for the Llanharan game next week, but having said that we are looking forward to playing Llanharan, they are at the top end of the league and we will need to produce a good, top drawer performance to get the win. The pack was outstanding again today with Michael Kelly proving very effective in open play. I've never experienced a game being abandoned through injury to the referee and I am more disappointed because we were winning at the time, I think I would have been less disappointed if we had been losing !"
